Japan has protested to China after Chinese J-15 fighter jets conducted dangerously close maneuvers near Japanese P-3C maritime patrol aircraft over the Pacific last weekend. A J-15 from the Shandong carrier reportedly flew within 45 meters of a Japanese plane, with other near-miss incidents lasting up to 80 minutes. Japan's Defence Ministry warned such actions risk collisions and shared close-up images. While no damage occurred, Japan demanded China prevent future incidents. The Shandong and Liaoning carriers were seen operating in Japan’s exclusive economic zone, conducting takeoff and landing drills. Tokyo pledged to continue monitoring and maintain communication with Beijing.
