IAEA Warns Israel-Iran Conflict Poses Threat to Nuclear Sites and Diplomatic Efforts

IAEA chief Rafael Grossi has warned that the escalating Israel-Iran conflict poses serious risks to nuclear safety and diplomacy, urging restraint from all sides. Speaking at a UN emergency session, he stressed that military action could lead to radiological disasters and derail nuclear talks with Iran. Israeli strikes damaged Iran’s Natanz and four other nuclear sites, though radiation levels remain normal. IAEA teams are still in Iran, ready to resume full monitoring when safe. Meanwhile, Iran’s parliament may propose exiting the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, alarming global observers. Tehran maintains it opposes nuclear weapons development despite rising domestic pressure.
