India and Canada to Restore High Commissioners After PM Modi–Mark Carney Meeting

At the G7 Summit, Indian PM Narendra Modi and Canadian PM Mark Carney held a “positive” meeting, agreeing to restore High Commissioners and resume high-level talks on trade, connectivity, and people-to-people ties. They also committed to cooperation in clean energy, digital infrastructure, AI, food security, and critical minerals. Both leaders reaffirmed respect for sovereignty and the rule of law, aiming to rebuild bilateral relations strained since 2023. Carney raised concerns about transnational crime and security, while Modi praised the strong democratic values linking both nations. Trade talks, previously paused, are set to resume soon.
