The Meghalaya government has inaugurated the Chitmang Chaiwat Nature-Based Glamping Project at Badri Rongdong in South Garo Hills, with an additional ₹93 lakh sanctioned for its expansion. Spread over 21+ hectares, the eco-tourism initiative features Garo-style cabins and eco-friendly domes, aimed at generating local employment, promoting environmental conservation, and boosting sustainable tourism. Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma praised the collaboration between the local community and the Soil & Water Conservation Department. He officially handed over the ₹93 lakh grant to the project’s management committee, calling the initiative a model for integrating nature, culture, and livelihoods through community participation.
