Tripura is set to be officially declared India’s third fully literate state after Mizoram and Goa on June 23 at a ceremony in Agartala. The achievement, driven by the ULLAS – New India Literacy Programme, reflects the state’s strong commitment to education. Coordinated by the School Education Department and supported by over 2,000 volunteers, the campaign reached even remote areas. Tripura’s literacy rate rose to 95.6%, surpassing the national 95% benchmark. The initiative emphasized functional literacy, including math and digital skills. Dignitaries from central and state education departments will attend the historic announcement led by Chief Minister Manik Saha.
