The Ministry of Defence is launching a thorough review to detect and eliminate Chinese-origin components in military equipment. Despite existing bans, some firms may still use Chinese parts, raising security concerns. As part of 2025 reforms, an external agency will audit indigenous claims, map supply chains, and assess costs and technology transfers. The Army aims to cut foreign dependence, especially on China, and support local manufacturing under “Make in India.” The review follows suspicions of inflated indigenous claims and Chinese links in drones. Procurement scrutiny has intensified since Operation Sindoor, with several orders already cancelled over security concerns.
