Heavy overnight rains triggered flash floods and 11 cloudbursts in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district, leaving 10 dead, 34 missing, and several injured. The disaster caused massive damage to homes, roads, and infrastructure, especially in Mandi, where 248 of 406 blocked roads are located. Rescue operations by NDRF and SDRF teams have saved 332 people statewide. Rivers are in spate, and over 1.5 lakh cusecs of water were released from Pandoh Dam. Schools shut, highways blocked, and an orange alert is in place. CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu estimates Rs 500 crore in monsoon losses and urges caution near rivers and drains.
