Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on September 8, coinciding with Bhupen Hazarika’s birth anniversary, to launch ₹8,000 crore worth of infrastructure projects. These include Darrang Medical College, a bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Kuruwa and Narengi, and the Guwahati Ring Road. He will address a public meeting at Kamarpara, Mangaldai, where 146 bighas have been allotted for the ₹572 crore medical college. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the event site and also discussed relocating plants from the sericulture farm. He expressed dissatisfaction with the slow progress of Assam Skill University in Mangaldai, pledging further review.
