Meghalaya Author Bijoya Sawian to Be Felicitated at Aalekh Foundation’s Women Achievers’ Awards

Renowned Meghalaya author Bijoya Sawian will be honoured at the third Aalekh Foundation Women Achievers’ Awards on July 19 at The Leela Palace, New Delhi. She is among 20 women chosen nationwide for their exceptional contributions, specifically in Indian literature and preserving Khasi culture. Her translations and fiction works like Shadow Men and Hill Songs of Love and Longing have helped document Khasi oral traditions and spotlight Northeast India. The award ceremony will feature notable guests, including Attorney General R Venkataramani. Aalekh Foundation founder Rennie Joyy praised Sawian’s impact as a “quiet revolution” in cultural and literary advocacy.
