Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced that 66 villages along the Indo-Myanmar border have been selected for development under the Centre’s Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP). These include 42 villages in Changlang, 13 in Longding, and 11 in Tirap districts. The initiative aims to boost road connectivity, telecom, electricity, livelihood, and skill development. Villages like Wakka and Gandhigram are among the most populated, while Old Potuk has the least. The programme addresses gaps in infrastructure, tourism, and renewable energy to retain border populations. In its first phase, 455 villages were identified along Indo-Bhutan and Indo-Tibet borders, including 135 lacking road access.
