Indonesian police arrested 12 people for running a baby trafficking syndicate that sent over a dozen infants to Singapore for adoption. The case emerged after a parent reported a kidnapping, revealing a network that traded 24 babies, mostly under one year old. The babies were moved from West Java to Pontianak, then to Singapore. Authorities rescued six infants and detained suspects in Jakarta, Pontianak, and Bandung. The syndicate, active since 2023, targeted parents unwilling to raise their children, selling babies for up to 16 million Rupiah. Indonesia plans to work with Interpol to trace trafficked infants in Singapore.
