Amid protests in Bihar against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Assam BJP fully supported the move, urging a similar revision in the state to eliminate "illegal voters" allegedly added by Congress. BJP leader Rupam Goswami thanked the Election Commission and claimed foreign nationals from Bangladesh, Nepal, and Myanmar had been found on voter lists. He accused Congress of political patronage and double standards, referencing past cases where indigenous people were labeled “D voters.” Goswami highlighted that SIR enhances democracy and accused Congress of opposing the exercise to protect its illegal vote bank.
