Axom Nagarik Samaj Slams Government Evictions, Alleges Corporate Land Grab Plot

Axom Nagarik Samaj strongly condemned recent eviction drives in Assam’s Dhubri and Goalpara, accusing the government of aiding corporate land grabs under CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. In a press release, they alleged a conspiracy to transfer indigenous lands to multinational corporations, citing examples like Barduar, Lankathar, Parbatjhora, and Kaziranga. The Samaj claimed land in Dhubri is being handed to the Adani Group and criticized the displacement of locals, especially tribal and semi-tribal communities without land rights. Highlighting historical injustices and natural disasters, they urged land rights for indigenous people and denounced the government’s corporate-friendly policies.
