Assam Government to Launch MMNMA 2.0 to Empower 10 Lakh Girls in Higher Education
The Assam government is all set to launch the Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina Asoni 2.0 (MMNMA 2.0) on August 6, 2025, for the financial year 2025–26. This ambitious initiative aims to empower 10 lakh girls across the state by promoting access to higher education through the free distribution of application forms to eligible students. This step reinforces the government’s larger commitment toward women's education and empowerment in Assam.
The distribution of these forms marks a foundational step in ensuring that girls from economically disadvantaged or remote areas are not deprived of educational opportunities due to lack of access to formal procedures or financial limitations. Through this initiative, the government seeks to eliminate barriers and bring deserving young women closer to realizing their academic and professional goals.
As part of the statewide roll-out, Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong district administrations have been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the MMNMA 2.0 program across six key venues simultaneously on the day of the launch. The coordinated effort highlights the state’s commitment to decentralized implementation and ensuring that outreach is widespread and inclusive.
The six venues where the program will be held include:
Diphu Government College, where the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) will preside over the event.
Eastern Karbi Anglong College, Bokajan, which will host former MP Horensing Bey.
Government Model College, Deithor, where Dr. Numal Momin, Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly (ALA), will be the chief guest.
Thongnokbe College, Dokmoka, with MLA Dorsing Ronghang leading the programme.
Rukasen College, which will feature MLA Bidya Sing Engleng.
Rangsina College, Donkamokam, in West Karbi Anglong, where MLA Rupsing Teron will be present.
These events, featuring senior political leaders and government officials, are expected to boost the visibility of the initiative, making it a significant public outreach exercise. The involvement of such dignitaries also underlines the importance the state attaches to this scheme and its potential to reshape the education landscape for girls in Assam.
To ensure maximum participation and awareness, the District Information and Public Relations Office (DIPRO) has been assigned the critical role of promoting the program extensively. The DIPRO will utilize digital and social media platforms to publicize the initiative, spread awareness of the scheme’s benefits, and encourage eligible beneficiaries to take part. These promotional efforts are expected to create a ripple effect, drawing community support and enhancing the reach of the programme.
Overall, MMNMA 2.0 represents a significant leap forward in the state’s journey toward inclusive education and gender empowerment. By making the application process more accessible and engaging stakeholders across districts, the Assam government is laying a strong foundation for transforming the future of young women in the region. The initiative is not only a policy milestone but also a social commitment to equity, opportunity, and progress.
