Dr. Ranoj Pegu Inaugurates ₹1 Crore Administrative Building at Hatidhura College, Dhubri
On Thursday, Assam Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu inaugurated a newly constructed administrative building at Hatidhura College, located in the Golakganj Assembly constituency of Dhubri district. The building, estimated at a cost of ₹1 crore, was financed through the Higher Education Department’s infrastructure development scheme and represents a significant step forward in improving the college’s facilities and administrative capabilities.
The minister received a warm welcome from the college authorities, students, faculty, and members of the local community. Addressing the gathering during the inauguration, Dr. Pegu reaffirmed the Assam Government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the state’s educational infrastructure, especially in rural and underserved areas. He stated that the government’s mission is to ensure equitable access to quality education for all students, regardless of their geographic location.
Dr. Pegu also emphasized the importance of building physical infrastructure as a foundation for educational progress. “The government is working on multiple fronts to create a conducive learning environment for our students. Infrastructure is a key pillar of this effort, and we are proud to see colleges like Hatidhura benefit from it,” he said.
One of the key highlights of his speech was the mention of the “Nijut Moina” scheme—a flagship initiative of the Education Department aimed at supporting students, particularly girls, through financial assistance for school and college education. He noted that the scheme has contributed significantly to reducing school dropout rates and has encouraged more students, especially girls, to pursue higher education.
The event was graced by the presence of several dignitaries including Hatidhura College Principal, faculty members, and students, as well as former Golakganj MLA Ashwini Roy Sarkar, senior BJP leader Banendra Kumar Musahari, and senior officials from the district administration. Their presence underscored the local and state-level importance of the initiative.
Established in 1990, Hatidhura College currently serves over 1,100 students, most of whom are enrolled in the Arts stream. Over the years, the college has played a crucial role in providing higher education to students from surrounding rural and semi-rural communities. However, until now, the lack of adequate infrastructure had posed several operational challenges. The newly constructed administrative building is expected to greatly alleviate these issues, streamline academic and administrative operations, and enhance the overall functioning and academic environment of the college.
Local residents and college officials expressed their gratitude to the Assam Government and the Higher Education Department for their support. They shared their optimism that the new building would serve as a catalyst for the college’s future growth, boost the morale of students and faculty, and inspire more youths from the region to pursue higher education.
In essence, the inauguration of the new administrative building at Hatidhura College is not just an infrastructural upgrade but a broader step toward educational empowerment in Assam’s rural belt—aligning with the government’s vision of inclusive, accessible, and quality education across the state.
