Global Rallies Demand End to Israeli Attacks and Starvation in Gaza

Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators across the world have staged rallies and marches to express solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. The protests, held in major cities, were driven by calls to end Israeli attacks on the besieged and heavily bombarded enclave, where Israeli-imposed starvation now threatens the entire population.

In London, the Metropolitan Police reported arresting more than 466 protesters during a Saturday demonstration against the UK government’s decision to ban the activist group Palestine Action. The ban, imposed in July under anti-terrorism legislation, followed a series of actions in which members of Palestine Action broke into a Royal Air Force base and damaged planes to protest what they allege is UK complicity in Israeli war crimes. Demonstrators in London, many wearing black-and-white Palestinian keffiyehs and waving Palestinian flags, chanted slogans such as “Hands off Gaza” and displayed placards reading “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action.”

In Istanbul, Turkiye, thousands rallied to demand that more humanitarian aid be allowed into Gaza. Organisers urged the international community to take urgent measures to end the worsening humanitarian crisis in the enclave.

In Amsterdam, the Netherlands, large crowds protested against the blockade of Gaza and Western governments’ support for Israel. Demonstrators demanded the immediate and unrestricted delivery of aid, emphasising that current restrictions are deepening Gaza’s suffering.

Spain saw several pro-Palestinian rallies, including in the capital Madrid, where protesters condemned Israeli military actions and the starvation conditions in Gaza. Carrying Palestinian flags, participants chanted “End to genocide,” calling for swift international intervention.

In Geneva, Switzerland, thousands gathered at the Jardin Anglais to protest famine and deaths caused by malnutrition under the Israeli blockade. The demonstrators staged a sit-in and chanted in English, French, and Arabic, demanding an end to global support for what they described as Israel’s oppression of Palestinians.

In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, large rallies also expressed support for Gaza’s population, highlighting the widespread global outrage over the humanitarian crisis.

Across all these protests, recurring themes emerged: solidarity with Palestinians, condemnation of Israeli military actions and blockade policies, demands for unrestricted humanitarian aid, and calls for an immediate end to what many protesters described as genocide. Demonstrators carried Palestinian flags, wore symbolic scarves, and used powerful slogans to pressure governments and international bodies into action.

The protests underscored the growing global mobilisation around the Gaza crisis. Organisers and participants framed the situation not just as a political conflict, but as a moral and humanitarian emergency requiring urgent intervention. They accused certain governments—particularly in the West—of enabling Israeli policies through political, military, and economic support, thereby contributing to Gaza’s suffering.

From Europe to Asia, the rallies reflected a shared demand: stop the attacks, lift the blockade, and ensure unrestricted humanitarian aid to Gaza’s civilian population. The breadth and diversity of the demonstrations signaled that international public opinion is increasingly vocal and organised in its opposition to the current state of affairs in Gaza.
