The Bihar education department has launched a major initiative to enhance the quality of education across the state by signing five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with academic and philanthropic organisations. A key partner in this effort is the Edtech firm Physics Wallah, which will provide free coaching from foundational to advanced levels for JEE and NEET aspirants studying in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas and Simultala Awasiya Vidyalayas.

Physics Wallah’s support package will include interactive digital classes, practice tests, AI-based doubt-solving tools, free access to the company’s mobile app, and regular academic progress tracking for students from classes 9 to 12. This targeted intervention aims to improve competitive exam preparedness among students, especially from underprivileged backgrounds, by leveraging technology and personalised learning resources.

Alongside Physics Wallah, four other organisations have joined hands with the state government to address diverse educational needs. Bharat Innovation Global will focus on National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) exam preparation for Class 8 students across Bihar. Their two-year programme will be delivered through live and recorded sessions, supplemented with digital learning content and practice tests in a “Hinglish” format. Special attention will be given to students from rural and economically disadvantaged communities to ensure equitable access to scholarship opportunities.

Freedom Edu will introduce a Holistic English Language Learning Programme across government schools. This initiative will prioritise reading fluency, comprehension, verbal communication, and confidence-building. The programme seeks to bridge language barriers that often limit students’ academic and career opportunities, helping them become more competitive in higher education and the job market.

To develop life skills and entrepreneurial capabilities, the Going to School Fund will roll out a weekly two-day curriculum for students in classes 7 to 12. The first day of the curriculum will involve story-based learning activities, encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking. The second day will focus on digital project work, giving students hands-on experience in applying ideas to practical tasks, thereby nurturing self-reliance and innovation.

For college-level students, the SGBS Unnati Foundation will implement a job-oriented skill development programme under its UNXT initiative. This training will be open to final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students from all government and aided colleges in Bihar. Over a period of 30 days, participants will attend three hours of classroom instruction daily, covering career readiness, technical skills, and soft skills. Additionally, students will gain free access to an e-learning platform with over 600 videos and quizzes. The programme’s ambitious goal is to ensure that at least 70% of its graduates secure employment, self-employment, or opportunities for further study.

At the signing event, Education Minister Sunil Kumar emphasised the state government’s substantial financial commitment to education, noting that over 20% of Bihar’s budget is dedicated to the sector. He stressed that these partnerships would not only introduce innovation and advanced technology into the classroom but also open new pathways for student success. Kumar assured that the government would conduct regular monitoring and outcome-based evaluations to ensure each MoU’s tangible impact at the grassroots level.

Dr. S Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary of the education department, underscored Bihar’s position as having the largest student population in India. He said that providing quality resources and competitive guidance is a top priority and that these partnerships represent an important milestone in achieving that goal. Together, these collaborations aim to create a stronger, more inclusive educational ecosystem that equips Bihar’s youth with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities needed to thrive in competitive environments and modern job markets.
