Tezpur University Inaugurates Nelson Mandela Hostel for International Students

Tezpur University has taken a significant step to accommodate its growing international student population by inaugurating the newly constructed Nelson Mandela International Hostel. The inauguration took place on Monday, with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh presiding over the ceremony. In its initial phase, the hostel offers 44 single-seater rooms, each thoughtfully designed to ensure comfort, privacy, and functionality for international students pursuing higher education at the university. Future expansion plans have been envisioned for the hostel, which will increase its capacity to accommodate 140 international students. The extended facilities are planned to include an Activity Center and a Library. The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent university officials, including Prof. Manabendra Mandal, Dean of Students’ Welfare, and Mr. Jadab Chandra Nath, Executive Engineer, along with wardens and other staff. On the same day, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Singh also inaugurated a newly constructed unisex salon named LAVANYA on campus.
