Top 10 Sikkim Girl Students Head to Gwalior Under CM’s Meritorious Scholarship Scheme
In a major step toward promoting educational excellence, ten outstanding girl students from across Sikkim have been selected to pursue their studies at the esteemed Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. This opportunity is provided under the Chief Minister’s Meritorious Scholarship Scheme, an initiative by the Government of Sikkim aimed at enabling talented students to access premier educational institutions outside the state.
To mark the occasion, a farewell ceremony was held in Gangtok on April 9, where Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang personally interacted with the students. He presented each of them with a traditional khada—a symbol of good fortune and blessings—and offered words of encouragement, urging the girls to remain dedicated, focused, and to strive for excellence.
“Education is the most powerful tool for progress. I’m immensely proud of these young girls who have earned this opportunity through their hard work. They carry the hopes of Sikkim with them,” said CM Tamang.
The students will now join Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, one of India’s top residential schools for girls, known for its rigorous academics, leadership training, and holistic development approach.
Under the CM Meritorious Scholarship Scheme, all major expenses—including tuition, boarding, uniforms, textbooks, and travel—are fully funded by the state government. The initiative is part of a broader effort to empower Sikkimese students to compete at national levels and thrive in prestigious institutions.
This move reflects the Sikkim government’s continued commitment to nurturing talent and expanding educational opportunities for young girls, laying the foundation for a brighter and more empowered future.
