Indian Air Force Corporal Tage Hailyang, a native of Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Subansiri district, was among those tragically killed in the recent terrorist attack at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred on April 22 while Corporal Hailyang was visiting the scenic hill town with his wife, who survived the attack.

Corporal Hailyang hailed from Tajang village and served in the IAF with distinction. His untimely death has cast a shadow of grief across his home state, as residents and leaders mourn the loss of a brave soldier who died in a senseless act of violence.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. “Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Corporal Tage Hailyang of the Indian Air Force, a brave son of Arunachal Pradesh,” Khandu said in a statement. “While visiting Pahalgam with his wife, his life was cruelly taken in a senseless act of terror.”

The Chief Minister went on to commend the late corporal’s dedication and service to the nation. “He served the nation with courage and honour. His untimely death is a great loss not only to his family but to the entire country,” Khandu added. “Our thoughts are with his loved ones, especially his wife who survived this horrific incident. May they find strength and solace in this unimaginable time of grief.”

The terror attack, which took place in the Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam, claimed the lives of at least 25 tourists and one local resident, making it one of the deadliest assaults on civilians in recent years. The incident has drawn widespread condemnation and sparked renewed concern over security in the region.

As news of Corporal Hailyang’s death spread, an outpouring of grief and tributes came from across Arunachal Pradesh. The state has officially entered a period of mourning, with tributes pouring in from officials, community leaders, and residents honoring the fallen airman’s sacrifice.

Authorities continue to investigate the attack, with central agencies including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) now involved in the probe. Meanwhile, the people of Arunachal Pradesh and the nation stand united in remembering Corporal Tage Hailyang—a soldier, husband, and patriot whose life was cut short in a brutal act of terror.
