Indian Army honours veterans and their families at ex-servicemen rally in Manipur’s Senapati

The Indian Army’s Spear Corps organized a significant Ex-Servicemen Rally in Senapati district, Manipur, as a heartfelt tribute to veterans, reaffirming its deep commitment to those who have served the nation with distinction. The event drew over 520 attendees, including 401 ex-servicemen, 85 war widows, and 18 Veer Naris and Veer Matas, highlighting the broad community involved in the ceremony.

The rally was honored by the presence of Lieutenant General Abhijit S Pendharkar, AVSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding of the Spear Corps, who served as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by Major General Sameer S Kartikeya, YSM, SM, General Officer Commanding of the Red Shield Division, reinforcing the high-level military leadership attending the event.

In his address, Lt Gen Pendharkar expressed profound gratitude toward the veterans for their selfless service and paid tribute to the invaluable sacrifices made by Veer Naris and Veer Matas. He emphasized the significant role ex-servicemen have played in maintaining peace and promoting development in Manipur, especially in recent years, where their contributions have been pivotal. The General commended their efforts not only in defense but also in sectors such as education, sports, and social stability, noting their continued support for Operation Sindoor. He encouraged the veterans to keep guiding younger generations toward unity and national integration, underscoring the importance of their ongoing involvement in shaping society.

Reaffirming the Indian Army’s dedication to veteran welfare, Lt Gen Pendharkar detailed recent initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life for ex-servicemen and their families. As a token of appreciation, the General felicitated Dr. V. Alexander Pao, President of Mount Everest College, acknowledging the institution’s crucial role in supporting and organizing the rally.

The rally also featured a special felicitation ceremony for gallantry awardees and war widows, reflecting the Army’s deep respect and gratitude for its heroes and their enduring legacy. Recognizing the importance of addressing the immediate needs of attendees, various essential services were made available during the event. These included grievance redressal desks, banking assistance, a treasury office for pension-related queries, and veteran-specific support systems, which collectively aimed to provide comprehensive assistance to the ex-servicemen and their families.

Additionally, a thorough medical camp was organized jointly by Army medical personnel and the District Civil Hospital. This camp provided free health consultations, check-ups, and essential medications to the attendees, demonstrating the Army’s commitment to the physical well-being of veterans. A dedicated pharmacy counter was set up to ensure the swift and efficient distribution of prescribed medicines, further emphasizing the holistic care approach.
