A high-level ministerial delegation from Arunachal Pradesh, led by the state’s Trade and Commerce Minister Nyato Dukam, is currently participating in the Thaifex Anuga Asia 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand. This participation is aimed at promoting Arunachal Pradesh’s agro and processed food sector on the global stage. The initiative is supported by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), which is playing a key role in facilitating trade connections and promoting investment opportunities for the state.
The primary objective of the visit is to explore international trade prospects, attract investments, and build partnerships, particularly in the area of agri-food processing and indigenous agricultural products. Arunachal Pradesh is known for its unique and high-quality agri-products such as kiwi, mandarin oranges, large cardamom, and fruit wines. These products are being highlighted as part of the state’s broader efforts to boost its export potential and connect with global markets.
The Indian Ambassador to Thailand, Nagesh Singh, welcomed the delegation, which also includes prominent leaders such as MLA Dr. Mohesh Chai, Trade and Commerce Commissioner Saugat Biswas, and other senior officials. The Ambassador expressed strong support for enhancing trade ties between Arunachal Pradesh and Thailand and encouraged the Indian delegation to explore collaboration with Thai companies, especially in terms of processing technologies and import-export linkages.
Key meetings and discussions during the visit have focused on expanding trade in agri-horticultural products between the two regions. Special emphasis has been placed on organic and value-added products, which are increasingly in demand in the global market. Ambassador Singh urged the Arunachal delegation to engage actively with Thai importers and to visit food processing plants in Bangkok as part of efforts to identify opportunities for technology transfer and strategic collaboration.
The Arunachal Pradesh pavilion at Thaifex Anuga Asia was officially inaugurated by Minister Nyato Dukam. The pavilion has become a focal point of the Indian participation at the trade show, showcasing a wide variety of agricultural produce and processed food items from the state. This includes organic fruits, traditional condiments, and locally-made food products, all of which reflect the diversity and richness of Arunachal Pradesh’s food culture.
Thaifex Anuga Asia is recognized as one of the leading food and beverage trade shows in the ASEAN region, attracting buyers, investors, and companies from around the world. Participation in this event is seen as a strategic step for Arunachal Pradesh to gain a foothold in Southeast Asian markets and strengthen its position in the global food processing industry.
Dr. Rajeev Singh, Director General of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the importance of the event for Arunachal Pradesh, stating that it provides a vital platform for the state to attract international business interest. Prominent Indian brands representing the state at the event include Norphel Wines, Green Gold Integrated Farm, Neuli Enterprise, and Cakes and Bakes. These companies are helping showcase the growing strength and potential of Arunachal Pradesh’s food processing ecosystem.
