Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha recently inaugurated a series of development projects in Khowai district, reaffirming the state government's commitment to inclusive development and citizen-centric infrastructure. Speaking at the event held at Baijalbari H.S. School Ground, CM Saha launched multiple initiatives including the inauguration of Baijalbari Police Station, a new 50-seat Scheduled Tribe (ST) Boys' Hostel, and six additional projects through virtual mode. He emphasized the state government's continued efforts to ensure equitable growth across all regions, particularly in rural areas.

Highlighting Tripura’s unique cultural diversity and recent restoration of peace, the Chief Minister said that harmonious coexistence was essential for sustained development. He added that the present administration was determined to build a united and prosperous “Ek Tripura, Srestha Tripura,” a vision rooted in collective progress and social stability.

CM Saha pointed out that development in Tripura had stagnated under previous regimes, particularly affecting poor and marginalized communities. Since his government came into power, he said, development had gained significant momentum. He credited this transformation to the leadership and vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, particularly the goal of achieving a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India) by 2047.

The Chief Minister detailed several priority sectors under his government’s development agenda, including education, healthcare, agriculture, and communication infrastructure. He said special attention is being given to the holistic development of tribal communities, including livelihood generation and access to essential services.

Self-reliance was another core theme of the address. CM Saha shared that the number of self-help groups (SHGs) in the state has increased notably. Emphasis is also being placed on using Tripura's local resources—such as bamboo, agarwood, rubber, natural gas, and agriculture—to drive socio-economic development. These locally rooted efforts aim to create jobs and reduce dependency on external support.

In terms of healthcare, CM Saha highlighted the implementation of both central and state schemes, such as the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Jana Arogya Yojana and the state’s own Chief Minister's Jana Arogya Yojana. These initiatives aim to make healthcare more accessible and improve the overall quality of life for citizens.

He further spoke about the importance of law and order, revealing that Tripura witnessed a 19.4% reduction in crime during 2023–24. To reinforce the state's policing capacity, the government appointed 975 new constables on May 13, including 332 women. Additionally, the state has sanctioned the recruitment of 916 more constables, over 6,000 special executive posts, and 218 sub-inspectors, signaling a major expansion in law enforcement personnel.

The event was attended by several dignitaries including Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, Khowai District Sabhadhipati Aparna Singh Roy Dutta, MLA Ranjit Debbarma, Director General of Police Anurag, Khowai District Magistrate Rajat Pant, Panchayat Department Director Prasun Dey, and Superintendent of Police Ranaditya Das. Their presence underscored the government’s unified approach to development and governance.

In conclusion, CM Saha reiterated that the state government remains focused on improving rural livelihoods, promoting inclusive development, enhancing infrastructure, and ensuring peace and progress for all sections of society.
