The Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly (APLA) recently marked the completion of one year of leadership under Speaker Tesam Pongte and Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor with a celebratory event held at the Dorjee Khandu Auditorium. The programme was not only a formal acknowledgment of their year-long service but also an opportunity for reflection, appreciation, and renewed commitment to legislative excellence by the Assembly staff and officials.
The event symbolized a year of notable progress and effective leadership under Pongte and Nyigyor, highlighting how their tenure contributed to improving the functioning and atmosphere within the Assembly. Officers and officials were given the chance to review their collective achievements and reassert their dedication to the core principles of discipline, responsibility, and service embedded in the legislative institution.
In his address, Speaker Tesam Pongte expressed heartfelt gratitude towards the Assembly staff, recognizing the significant roles each employee plays in supporting the democratic process. “From top to bottom, every role strengthens our temple of democracy,” he remarked, acknowledging the contributions of all personnel irrespective of their rank. He emphasized the importance of teamwork, discipline, and sincerity as pillars of a well-functioning legislative body. He encouraged staff members to actively share ideas and feedback aimed at improving the Assembly’s daily operations. In a forward-looking gesture, Speaker Pongte also announced the introduction of more frequent interaction programmes between leadership and staff, aiming to enhance coordination, communication, and collaborative spirit within the Assembly framework.
Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor, in his speech, focused on the personal and professional values that guide effective public service. He underscored the importance of humility, discipline, and maintaining a learning mindset, qualities he believes are essential for every individual working in a democratic institution. He called upon the Assembly staff to appreciate the diversity of roles within the institution and to draw inspiration not just from seniors but also from junior colleagues. His message stressed inclusivity, mutual respect, and the drive for continual self-improvement—all aimed at upholding the Assembly’s reputation and institutional integrity.
Secretary of APLA, Tadar Meena, also addressed the gathering, congratulating Speaker Pongte and Deputy Speaker Nyigyor on completing a successful year in office. She praised their dynamic and focused leadership and commended the Assembly’s officers and staff for their commitment to duty. Meena encouraged them to take pride in their service to the people of Arunachal Pradesh and emphasized that the unity and cooperative work culture within the institution are key to maintaining its effectiveness and credibility.
